Results team Belgium at World Championship 2023 in Baku

Team Belgium was in Baku, Azerbeidzjan with four athletes. Sarah Chaari, Badr Achab and Raheleh Asemani and coach Leonardo Gambuch were selected from ABFT. Manuel Pollet and coach Alireza Nassrazadany from Taekwondo Vlaanderen.  

  • Raheleh Asemani (class -57) was the first athlete to compete. Raheleh had the bad luck to compete in round 32 against the later world champion Luana Marton from Hungary. 
  • Manuel Pollet (class -87) lost in round 32 to fourth seed Suleymanov. After a tough first round the world cup rookie made a huge second round but lost it in the final seconds. 
  • World champion Sarah Chaari wasn’t able to extend her world title in class -62 but still made it to the best eight of the world. In the quarterfinals later winner Khuzina was able to beat her.
  • Badr Achab (class -74), brother of ex-world champion Jaouad Achab, lost in round 32 to France.
